For the i5 6600K or the or the 6700K:

AsRock Z170 Extreme4

As it's great for the price

For the i7 5820K:

AsRock X99 Extreme4

Because it is the best "budget" X99 Motherboard

Or the AsRock X99 Taichi, if you want a black /white board

He's looking for black and red, never mentioned budget and suggesting Asrock lel. That's unfortunate.

Also are we not talking about an i5-6600k which is a z170 1151 socket. He never mentioned what i7 he was looking at. I was the one that said I was interested in a 2011 not him.

I just saw that.... And as for what you said... AsRock has really stable motherboards, especially for the price that they are asking... And well, he mentioned a 6600K in the OP....

And as you noticed I gave options depending on what he chooses...

For x99 I'd recommend Asus. Most serious builders use their boards for reason they've only existed for 27 years. Check out every Youtuber with respectable subs including LTT and look what they are putting into their builds. You also get what you pay for. Asrock to me is like buying Patriot products. People say its great but is it really at that price.

I'm currently in the process of deciding what I want from Asus but I'm interested in the strix and delux v2 boards. My color scheme will be white and black but for the strix basically everything is RGB lighting so any color scheme works.

The strix matches your color scheme. A lot of their new boards come with U.2 as well as M.2 and use their own lanes.

Lol, it costs $80 dollars more.... It doesn't have any major benefit.... Other than "ASUS Quality" together with the worst RMA service of all time... If it breaks, you will pay for shipping and you will get a refurbished one....

If you look at the reviews, you will find out, that AsRock isn't the sub-par brand it used to be.... Especially after the release of their X99 Boards...

Yeah that's why everyone reputable that knows a thing or 2 is using x99 delux boards in their build. We all just love paying $80 for a badge with terrible support. Cmon man.

Anyway, I always recommend getting the best you can for the money you have regardless of the brand... And for $329 the X99 Classified is the best board for the money...

It is way more stable than even the X99 Deluxe, unless you are fanboying...

Jay uses evga products so his personal build is a evga showroom piece. I guess it has to be pointed out he is a video card enthusiast as much as a WC enthusiast and what does he love more? Evga cards which are in his build. Notice the bridge on his personal rig? Otherwise you bet he would be using Asus components. A lot of these youtubers are not buying asus boards because of the brand name. They are buying it for the reputation of constantly reliable boards with more features and expand-ability then others typically do and its not like Asrock hasn't had terrible service before and doesn't to this day. It's only a google search away bro. Btw the fanboy is using a evga board like Jay atm.

Whatever, I'd personally buy the X99 Classified that has a 10 phase power delivery instead of an 8 in the ASUS Board....

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, you believe that it's worth to spend the extra on an ASUS board, I don't.... Let's not argue about it.... Okay?

Alright guys! I will consider all of your suggestions but what do you think about the MSI gaming M5?

Np Also just wanted to share this video about i5 bottlenecks on a 1080. Keep in mind the i5  6600k is 2x the performance of the i5-750 in this video. At high resolutions you will pretty much never have noticed and at 1080p it will most likely be too high to care. Probably higher then your refresh rate of your monitor.

Ugh, I guess MSI is better then Asrock over the years. I haven't had experience with them in I think around 7 years. The reviews seem better then average for that particular model but I can't offer any deeply researched opinion on it.

Actually, AsRock is better than MSI in their X99 Boards, MSI uses a 4 phase power design with phase doublers to get 8 phases(the WORST), AsRock on the other hand uses a 6 phase power design with phase doublers to get 12 phases(Very good and MSI does the same in their higher end X99 Boards)...

ASUS uses 8 true phases (among the best)

EVGA Classified 10 TRUE phases (the best)

For X99 Motherboards UP TO $350 this is how it goes....

  1. EVGA
  2. ASUS
  3. AsRock
  4. Gigabyte
  5. MSI

Uh, new enthusiast boards from EVGA, ASUS and AsRock are advertising 12 phases on some of their boards. You should probably check out boards like the Evga x99 ftw k, Asus maximus formula viii, and Asrock x99 oc formula. Phases also don't single handily make a mother board good. It's like owning a EVGA classified video card, wooooo vrm's. We call those over compensation modules.

I am talking about X99, and I am telling you that AsRock's power design ISN'T native 12 phase but a 6 phase with phase doublers...

And proof that AsRock is better than Gigabyte and MSI in mid range X99:

These boards ARE on the market, just FYI....

Yes, AsRock's low end stuff sucks.... But the Extreme, the Fatal1ty and the OC Formula series are great...

Most people that are saying that AsRock sucks either :

A. They have just heard it from someone

B. They haven't kept up with their newer boards

C. Have bought a low end board (like the pro series)

D. Are fanboys of other companies

My experience with them is a long story. But one of our IT guys at my last studio wanted to try custom pc's instead of work stations to cut cost. Granted the pc's were still not cheap stuff. But they had Asrock boards in them. They basically were terrible. This was in 2012. Also up to that point their reputation was junk and their product at that time lived up to the reviews. I don't see a need to experience that again when other manufacturers are out there and have not let me down personally or professionally.

Okay, what AsRock boards did they have in them? As I told you, anything below the Pro4, sucks...

But I have 2 AsRock Boards, one is an LGA 775 board that I have had for ages... And it still works (it's on my secondary PC)

The other is on my main rig, this is a fairly new board and it works great, has all the features I need and it fits my color scheme...
