Thanks for the reply. - Gravemind.

Is it normal for the temperature of this card to being going up as high as 88 C.

I'm not really the person to be asking that as I've never had that card—or any Nvidia cards for that matter, but 88C is "very hot" by really any standards. That's a mere 12C away form being able to boil water =o

Try cleaning it out with a duster can (read the instructions carefully!) and making sure it's got enough ventilation and isn't in a hot room.

Depending on how long you've had the card, if might have just naturally degraded its components and/or stock thermal paste. If you think applying new paste is really the only option, then take the utmost care. Linus did a video on this sort of thing and has a lot of good points in it.

Also, if you're pushing the card too hard in a game it's not spec'd out to run, it will cause the card to more or less explode with temperatures if it's being stressed too hard by a demanding game.

I won't know you're talking to me unless you reply/quote me.

It varies from your environment. Some will be getting temps of 60c while others will be getting temps of mid 80's. It is because the temperature in your room is not identical to other people around the world. Try cleaning the dust out of it and perhaps adding a case fan or two to help promote airflow.
