Greetings, I've been looked around to see if anyone has any clue of the release for 2.5 on star citizen. I know there going through PTU invites atm to test out things and patch problems. But I'm wondering when they will release it. From one of my crew mates (Simebody https://robertsspaceindustries.com/citizens/Simebody) they told that citizen  releases updates every month. It's been longer than a month and I'm getting tired of dying to Vanguards and other OP ships with my Hornet. I understand Hornets are strong but for me, it feels like I get targeted a lot more than others do.

Should be right around the corner, they seem to have scrapped the monthly updates at the moment as they have a lot of stuff they are planning on adding each version. I am part of the PTU Testing and it seems stable enough, they might have one more update on ptu on Monday or Tuesday before it goes live (In my opinion anyway)

It was supposed to go live on Friday, coinciding with the big Gamescom demo/presentation. But Chris said there is a frame rate bug that they're going to fix before they do. If you haven't watched the whole presentation, I strongly suggest you do; but from CR himself:

Honestly gave me chills a few times. Pretty crazy how far they've come. Can't wait for Star Marine, but I believe Squadron 42 is going to melt peoples' brains (myself included).

From personal experience on 2.5 ptu, I can say it's still a bit undercooked. Desync is an ongoing issue, there's still some texture/lighting issues at long range, and the dreaded infinite loading screen is back. My guess is we'll get another ptu patch monday, a release candidate tuesday night/wed, maybe release to live thurs/fri

They have temporary band-aid solutions for the desync until the implementation of the new netcode in 3.0. Problem is that apparently their solutions are tied to the framerates of all clients in a given instance. In the 2.4.x patches they seem to have reached a somewhat workable balance and it doesn't dip below 30FPS, while retaining decent sync.

But in 2.5 PTU so far it seemed they lost it again and some instances were experiencing dips below 10 DPS, which was pretty unplayable. They are getting a handle on it, though. The last PTU patch is almost ready for release IMO. I would say next week it will be going live.

In a recent followup to you, the last ptu patch and maybe tonights had floating points switched on. This meant lots more crashes intentionally to try and find all of the reasons the fps was bad. Hopefully it gets released either Thursday or Monday as weekend releases never end well.
