Hi, guys! :D

I'm interested in buying a DAC in the next few months.

I think that it will most likely be Fiio E10 or E10k.

I am using speakers for most of the time, and headphones mainly for gaming and skyping.

As I look at the spec sheet, it seems like it has an output specificaly for headphones and another one on the back.

Does this mean that I can plug my speakers to the one on the back and enjoy them with the DAC's features? And when I want to use headphones I just plug them to the one up front and the speakers will mute, just like in every PC?

Do I estimate correctly?

Thanks in advance! :D

You mean a DAC and amp combo unit?

You can plug headphones and speakers into the E10K at the same time, using the line out on the back and the headphone out on the front. No muting takes place, however.

The Micca Origen is slightly more expensive, but allows you to switch back and forth between headphones and speakers (however, you can't have both playing at the same time to my knowledge). However, it has the additional benefit of acting as a pre-amp for the speakers, which means that you can use the physical volume knob for either output.

But the Micca also has a nice top mounted knob, spdif input, and 1/4" and 1/8" headphone output.
