Hello Tech tippers!

So thing is after I got my rig up and going - cable management I wanted to start testing it. I first ran Valley Benchmark 1.0 at extreme HD. Running it at about 50 fps avarage over all the scenes, So I can't complain there. However, when I am to close the benchmark I get a weird sound that I know is not supposed to be there. It a little hard to explain therefor I recorded this little video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rM7XKY64EIQ

Another thing is, I wanted to test out borderlands and it seems that when I run stuff with a fps higher then 120 it start screaming, however not as much screaming either, its nothing like in the video i posted, I tried to record the sound but my phone wasn't quite up for the job and it doesn't sound quite like linus' video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HP73edpQwgc

With a little more testing I manged to have minecraft run at 2000 fps. Is sounds exactly like in the video that Linus posted, perhaps it was louder, could be because the amount of fps I actually had and it also change the whining as I move.

So that pretty much leave the top one, is it coil whine, is it my gpu or psu?

Thanks in advance.

I once explained to my girlfriend what true love is. I said, "If you were a shit, I'd put you back in" and to this day, she is still my little shit.

1. How...im fairly sure that the max is only 300

2. stick your head in the case when playing a game (or whatever makes it whine) and whatever is whining may need replacing  :D

EDIT:Just a thought, but did you listen to the HDD to see if it was the source? Or the Motherboard?

I have no idea what the max is, but when I had the Cordinates and ram open it said 1600 then spiked up to 2000. Might be a mod I have installed giving me a loud of more options. Cranked it all as low as I possibly could. And when it comes to the whine, I am asking you guys if anyone have hard the same before because I've suck my head inside that case but I am not able to determine where it comes from. At first I suspected the GPU then the PSU. I've done the test without my HDD inside and the whining is still there.

i just looked up some stuff for your GPU, and there are many reports of coil whine with that GPU (especially the 2gb model)

Yeah, I should have researched it before hand, luckily in most games you are able to limit your fps to whatever you wan't without to much work. Some have it as a setting in they're options some other you actually have to go into the config folders and turn it whichever way you want from there. Anyways, Coil whine won't really damage my card and I have the g35 headset with is very much like earplugs, especially if I have music or sound on, if it becomes a problem, I am sure that either the guys I got it from or MSI will help me out. However, I still want a diagnose on my first problem as I don't know how normal it is, and if its harmfull, so keep them posts coming.

Ohh, thats also true... I could rma it and try the best to get a money refund and go for a 780 which is only $100 more.... Norwegian prices, so to give you a little idea before the 770 was $255 cheaper then the 780 which was $850. Now its down to $680. Think I'll just rma it and try to get my money back and go for a 780 still going for MSI Twin Frozr though since they are awesome, then hope there aren't more problems. If not then a new 770 without coil whine is all I can ask for.
