Hello everyone !

First of all, i'd like you to excuse my english if it's bad, i didn't speak english since forever :P

I'm going to build one or two computers in a few weeks, and one of them will be used only for editing. I'm not a professional, but I'm a pc-enthusiast and I like beautiful setups, so, i want to have the best parts for a reasonnable budget. Can't give you a price range, but i don't need to be overkill (like a 800$ cpu, 1To ssd, 2.000$ gpu ...)

This setup will run Adobe Premiere / After Effects / Photoshop and Sony Vegas mostly. Oh btw, i'm wondering, is it possible to use this "editing/recording pc" to capture image and sound from a "gaming pc" next to it ? maybe with an avermedia capture card or something ? i'm not sure at all about this ^-^

So here I am, asking for your advices, because I didn't really read the news recently. What is the best setup I can have for editing only ?

I guess it must have an i7 4770k (I used to overclock my 2500k,  and i really want to try OC this new one :) ) (i have a dark rock pro 2 for the cooling, i guess it will be okay !) , a Z87 motherboard (I heard the msi gaming one or z87-a c2 in the 120€ range is good for OC, is it true, and are there better ones maybe for a few more $ ?), 16 to 32gb of ram (1866-2400 mhz ?) a 840 pro 256gb ssd and nice amount of storage (i have 2x 3Tb Seagate Barracuda, can i raid 0 them ? never did this before). Do you have any good and siiiiileeeent PSU in mind ? And a question that i can't answer, how much a GPU is needed for this kind of setup? I have a gtx670 that i can throw in, but i don't know how it will improve the system ? I know cuda and stuff can improve adobe softwares (and my 670gtx isn't in the list of supported cards on the adobe website btw... don't know why ?). New AMD ones are better for this kind of work ? Oh, and I don't do massive 3d stuff.

I want this rig to be super silent. I'm gonna use a Define R4 i think, already worked with one and really liked it !

I think i'm done, so once again excuse my english if it's bad and thank you for your advices ! I really appreciate this community :)

Yes, the i7 4770K is clearly the best option for you.
1688 MHz of RAM will be fine. The latency of higher frequency RAM will be less convincing.

I have always wondered if there was a point in RAID0ing HDDs. I don't know if you will really get increased performance.

840 Pro is an excellent choice.

500W would be enough for this rig. Seasonic has a fanless 520W PSU, but some report electrical noise. However, depending on your GPU manufacturer, the video card will be noisy, the Dark Rock Pro 2 as well if you OC the CPU. These noise sources will be louder than any PSU anyway I would say.

What version of Adobe are you using? Are you just editing Gaming footage?

Faster ram won't do much.

What are the parts you already have?

Where are you shopping from/located? Budget/currency?
