What makes this mic good? what should I look for that makes a mic good?

as I just said, its a supercardioid pattern dynamic mic, that means that it will only pick up the speaker and reject ambient sound, though you will have to be close to the mic (within a few inches) for best pick up - but thats the same with most mics

You could go for a condenser mic like the yeti, they can sound better and are easier to drive as they run hot, BUT they will pick up everything

I can whisper, from the next room and people can hear me on skype as if I was right in their ear!

If you dont know anything about microphones - do some research, on Youtube, wikipedia etc

Hello Everyone.

I am planning on starting Youtube soon, but I need a decent microphone. I don't know anything about microphones.

My budget is around R2000 - R3000.

Here is the website that has the microphones.

http://www.soundselect.co.za

Please help.

I couldn't find the R2000 R3000 you mentioned, if they were models or not

If you're looking for a USB microphone I'd recommend an Audio Technica 2020 USB, however if you're looking to get XLR and mixer equipment for a non-USB microphone, my personal preference for voice and instrument recording is an Audio Technica 4050ST but it's hella spendy.

A microphone I see in a lot of places is the Blue Yeti, another USB microphone.

CPU: i7-7700K | GPU: ASUS RTX 2080 Super | RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance | Motherboard: MSI M5 Gaming | SSDs: 1TB Samsung 970 Evo + 1TB Samsung 850 Evo + 120GB Kingston SSDNow + 500GB SK hynix SL308 500GB  | HDD: WD Caviar Blue 1 TB

If you want a condenser mic

The AT2020 is a solid choice, and you can spend the rest on a good mic arm, pop shield etc

If you want a dynamic mic (which is better if you are worried about ambient sound)

The Shure SM57 is a great mic

The R2000 to R3000 is the amount of money I have to spend.

I want to get a USB microphone as I don't have enough saved up yet for any sort of mixing equipment.

You can get cheap XLR interfaces, or an XLR to USB cable just FYI

I need 2 of the microphones and those you recommended would be too expensive.

Something like this, and get an XLR to USB cable, and a mic stand/arm each

These kinds of mic are great at rejecting outside sounds (such as hearing each other over both mics, or hearing pc/typing noise etc)
