I pretty new to overclocking and began to overclock my 6600k to a stable 4.5Ghz. I then wondered if I could achieve a 4.55Ghz. Based on what I read, I would can lower the multiplier and increase the BCLK(35multi. and 130bclk). However, this just began to make my PC power cycle until I reverted the settings. Anyone know how I can fix this, if any way.

P.S: I put my vcore to offset and auto. My LLC is at level 1. And I changed my FCLK to 1Ghz from 800Mhz

No, I'm asking if you've hit some kind of limit that's preventing you from raising your multiplier. Why are you raising BCLK now?

The best overclock is one that combines the BCLK and the multiplier.. How ever, I do agree with you here, why use the BCLK now when you have space in the multiplier @*Insert Name Here*?

Isn't that the only way to change an overlcock from 4.5 to 4.55? because you can't add a decimal to a multiplier

I know that much, but you generally want to raise your BCLK BEFORE raising the multiplier to find your maximum stable speed, and work out kinks before you start pushing the CPU to it's limit. Especially when you consider that you're essentially overclocking  your ram and nb at the same time.

I can't get a stable a 4.6 OC

You likely need to increase your voltage up. Skylake chips are good at 24/7 voltages of 1.4v or lower as long as you have adequate cooling to keep the chip cool under load from a stress test such as Aida64, OCCT, or Intel Burn Test.

I'm not sure why you can't change your multiplier in half steps, you should be able to.

Either way, if you aren't stable at 4.6, and you can't get it to sit it's butt down at 4.5, then you probably have a general idea of the maximum OC for your CPU.

I'd say go back to stock, and raise ONLY the BCLK 10 mhz at a time, taking note of your ram and NB speeds.

If it gets a bit unstable in use on the desktop, then it's probably the ram or NB that's unstable, and you should try underclocking them a bit. If your computer outright refuses to boot, then the CPU doesn't like the BCLK being that high, lower it, and then if you can, find the maximum clocks of your NB and ram ONE AT A TIME. Once you've got that sorted, you can safely crank the multiplier until your computer squeals.

I'm purposely leaving out voltage for the NB and RAM because those are pretty situational depending on your setup. So, just leave them at stock voltage.

When i OC i never go above 4.5Ghz also that extra 50Mhz will do nothing, and finally i set my offset to 0.08V

P.S) i dont change any other setting other then Core clock and Core Voltage.

P.P.S) i got from 3.2Ghz ------------> 5Ghz with my Pentium G3258 @1.4V

first off, AUTO is not overclocking, it is a strategy algo that is impossible to predict, stop using AUTO and is a majority of unstable usage.

use manual VCORE voltage settings. you are prolly not using enough voltage for the POST boot to pass.

But after you finish your testing d you still keep it at manual, because if the cpu doesn't need that much voltage then why sunstain it if it will degrade the chip
