product key problem

i try to download windows 8.1 and ask for product key and i try and its say the product is wrong pls try guys my pc is old is windows vista and i saw in site microsoft i think the are not support this type product key 

what can i do

You need a key for windows 8.1 to use windows 8.1. A vista key will not work.

Because Microsoft. The key will not work, as it is for a different product.

Don't just say it shows an error. Tell us/show us a screenshot of what it is.

do u mean i go and i buy new windows like i buy windows ten and the cs has product key

You cannot activate windows 8 with a vista key, you need to buy a new copy of it

I mean show us the error. And there is no way to use a Windows Vista key with any other version of Windows. At all. Full Stop.

places like G2A/Kinguin/CDKeys/reddit generally work, but they could be either grey import keys, or more likely MSDN keys which technically should not be sold

it might work forever, it might be fake, it might stop working at a month, but normally they just work fine

Are they legal/genuine? hard to say thats your choice


I would say buy a copy from a retail store/amazon etc to get a 100% genuine copy but it costs more
