Best Multi GPU Setup

So I'm looking for a new multi GPU setup and I don't know what to get. I know this is a question everyone asks and everyone answers differently. I currently have 1 R9 390x strix in my PC (which is i7 6800k, 16gb Dom Platinum) and I would like a boost as I'm getting a 3 screen setup 1440p very soon. Shall I get another r9 390x or sell that and get 2 1070's? Or even 1 1070? Thanks for any responses in advance!

A staple rule is always stick one GPU to avoid the issues that plague SLI or Crossfire. Namely microstuttering, driver issues, little or no scaling, more heat and more power consumed.

 

Despite the triple monitor setup, I presume you're only playing on one primary 1440p monitor. I suggest getting the GTX 1080 for that.

I have a triple 1440p setup with a 980ti and it is not powerful enough to get high settings and acceptable framerates.

 

2 1070's sli are the minimum i'd reccomend. but 2 1080's would be better in that case. maybe wait for the 1080ti (if it comes) to have almost equal performance to the 2 1070's (if the performance is close to the new titan xp like it was in the past with the titan x and the 980ti)

 

or if you have cash to blow you could go with a single titan xp
