You really only need one, but Id reccomend atleast 2-3 dependent on powersupply orientation.

wat? no. Power supply orientation has no effect what so ever.

The H440 is a pretty limited air flow case, so the more, the better. It's pretty loaded out with fans stock (front holds 3x 120/2x 140)

My work machine is a 6700k in a H440 with a Swifftech H220 (240mm) mounted at the top with 1 140MM in the back and 2 140MM in the front (Noctua fans) and the temps idle 25c and load at 40c

My fan setup is a little weird ATM. The front 140s are intake, the rear 140 is an exhaust. The fans on the radiator are on top of it pushing air down into the case. Not how I want it, but I was too lazy to swap them since I hate this cooler. But it seems to be working pretty good.

ok so I should have no problems putting my fans in the "overhead compartment" of the case putting the rad and 2 more fans?
