Removing Thermal Paste

I need to replace my CPU meaning I need to remove the thermal grease residues from my old CPU. I do not have any sort of alcohol or coffee filters. Is there anyother way of removing this thermal grease?

I just use a soft tissue... just rub it off you cant do much wrong with it ^^

Not sure, but I'm pretty sure that the pins are suppose to be clean of any form of liquid as they are delicate.

If the paste is conductive, yes. But what can also happen is that the pins can become isolated, and the CPU won't work until the paste is cleaned off.

Also once I've installed the CPU, am I done from there? Will I be able to boot up normally or do I have to do something else?

You may need to update your BIOS in order for the CPU to work properly, or at all.

After doing a search on ASUS product support page, it looks like you can just upgrade and go.

There are some ways to update BIOS.

Boot from Stick or some have special USB Ports in which you Plug in a USB Stick just with the update.. then go into the BIOS and you can Update from there. Some mobos even support Updates while Windows is running

Download CPU-Z, launch it, and navigate to the Mainboard tab. Look under BIOS, and it should give a version.

Yes because the 4790 requires 0804. The current CPU that you have requires a higher BIOS version in order for it to work, and therefore the 4790 will work just fine in your build with no real work done by you.
