Blitzortung.org - A lightning detection network

Hello,

Do you know blitzortung.org ? http://en.blitzortung.org/live_lightning_maps.php

It is a community-based project that propose realtime maps of lightning over the world. It consists of a network of VLF detectors which are listening to strikes. When it detects something a packet (signal wave, time and position) is sent to computing servers which determine the origin of the electromagnetic source by computing heperbolic curves based of the different signals sent by at least 11 detectors.

This network is well developped in Europe but not so much in America (north and south :D ).

I thought that some members are maybe weather/electronic enthousiasts that could be interested in that project.

Enjoy!
