What are some good money/performance headphone amps? I currently use a Dragonfly DAC but i'm looking for something beefier.

Also, unsure if these are used in the same sense, but i've seen people use headphone amps with a guitar and amp? (might be something else, not completely sure) but any recommendations that can use both headphones and for my guitar would be ideal :-)

The older Emotiva XDA-2 is also a great buy if you're seriously serious. eBay and Craigslist are your friends since the XDA-2 has been discontinued (XDA-1 does not have a built in amp, so not that one)

What headphones are you using? What's your budget?

I'm surprised you always ask this question to begin your "recommendation." I know you're eluding to the fact that an amp might not even be necessary. But I haven't come across a situation where a dedicated amp was a poor way to spend money. Now going from an entry level amp to a $1,000+ amp is a completely different story. But if people are looking for an amp... I think they should try one.

A dedicated amp helped in my home theater even though I have ridiculously efficient speakers. Did it increase volume? No. Not at all. But it did provide a noticeable amount of separation in the instruments during music. And the bass was generally more pronounced.

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

Laptop: ThinkPad P50: i7 6820HQ, M2000M. ThinkPad T420s: i7 2640M, NVS 4200M

Idk, for something like m50x, probably won't benifit it much.

Did you see the DAC video? Is it at all informative?

Not really, he said that if you have 56Ohm headphones you might need a amp and that Ohm is all that really matters.... FFS I have been trying to debunk that myth for a long time now

I think a lot of us have been. As predicted, not a useful video.

Someone gets it right: What is a headphone amplifier and why do I need one?

i'm currently using Audioquest Nighthawks and occasionally B&W P5's and i'd be willing to spend anywhere in the 100-300$ range
