Made a deal recently on craigslist. Got an XFX x58i motherboard and intel i7-920 for 60$

 

In the bios there is an option to set the chip at a preset profile i7-950 Over Clock.

 

Is this chip still relevant, and will it be decent for gaming with a mid-range GPU?

 

Any help would be great. Thank you.

i'd OC it manually but for that Money it's still a decent CPU that can easily be used for casual gaming.

Clock it to 4 Ghz, pair it with a 1060/RX480 and enjoy.

 

Those extra threads will do you wonders in some of today's games.

It'll do ok. It's old but if you oc it manually you should be able to get a decent amount of performance
