So I am thinking of making a workstation for tasks that do better with very high amounts of compute power such as 3D Modeling, Game Development, and 3D Animation/Rendering. I am on the fence as to build a new system or not, My current system is an Intel Core i5 3570k Quad core with 24gb of ram(Not mentioning GPU due to it meaning close to nothing in any of these tasks.) The Workstation would contain an Intel Xeon 2670 8-Core CPU w/Hyperthreading and 32GB of ram(most Taken from the other system.) Just looking for opinions.

If you are going for an e5 2670 the motherboards are about $200USD - $250USD used for a x79 board, and dual socket will give you about the multithreaded performance of a 5960x (stock), and is better price to performance.

Make sure the programs you use can actually use 16 threads though.

 •E5-2670 @2.7GHz • Intel DX79SI • EVGA 970 SSC• GSkill Sniper 8Gb ddr3 • Corsair Spec 02 • Corsair RM750 • HyperX 120Gb SSD • Hitachi 2Tb HDD •
