Normally I am NOT an early adopter and I don't like hype. But when I learned that the Windows 10 anniversary update, I'd that I'd give it a go. Now I haven't had any issues as I am very picky about my PC and I love keeping it at top performance. After I did some reading I heard that the anniversary update could be somewhat unstable and some people have had some issues, although we all know most people aren't good with their PCs anyway. But I wanted to know has anyone had any issues, has it been stable. How good has Microsoft been with support with it's user base and do they really care about making sure their OS and users are working well together? I know it's a loaded question but I wanted to just ask if I'd still be safe if I wanted to update my parents computers and my laptop.

Thanks in advance.

I was one of those who got early update and I don't see any problems with it.

Have been using it for last 2 weeks now and everything seems normal to me. But then again I'm mostly just gaming :P

I bricked my laptop because I was using some custom theme patchers and registry modifications.

When I boot I get a cray screen.

Gonna have to do a clean install, and from what I hear UxStyle does work properly for the aniversary update, it's just UxThemePatcher that doesn't work properly (even though the latest version says it works on anniversary update)

Also not to get off subject but I was told that supposedly, and I don't buy it, that Microsoft was gonna do something to make Steam not run as well over time to force people to use their store app? I think it's a lie.

I found a few of my minor registry hacks were no longer working in some cases.

I noticed with the anniversary update, certain tweaks I made to the registry I had to redo. Minor things like my taskbar had unwanted icons on it for me to remove again. It appeared everything for my sound card was defaulted so just as a precaution I reinstalled everything for the sound card and went ahead and did the same for the gpu but past that it seemed to be a smooth update, no issues on my end.

I actually had a similar issue like what you did except I skipped the GPU reinstall. I'll do that on the next Nvidia update.
