Hello guys, my friendd just told me, that if I want to play games on 1080p, on ultra settings, on 144hz monitor my computer won't be enough powerfull. My gpu will be gtx1060,,cpu i7-6700k. But I though I will be able to change hz from 144hz to 60hz? Or maybe i'm wrong?

Your friend is right. However, that is only if you want to take full advantage of your 144Hz refresh rate on your monitor. Your gtx 1060 will never give you the required raw power you'll need to run all your games at max settings at more than 140 frames at 1080p. Don't worry though. You'll be able to set up the refresh rate of the monitor down to 60Hz if you want to through windows.

Maybe you might want to spend less money on a monitor that doesn't do 144 hz refresh rate instead?

I don't think with ultra you will get 144hz @ 1080p. But if you lower the settings, sure.

I play those games turned down for maximum fps consistency and minimum fps variance.

This is how I play 90% of my multiplayer based games. Yeah, the games look better with settings cranked up, but when it comes to competitive, I prefer lowest possible settings.
