Hello everyone,

I am posting on this website with my query for the first time, henceforth I am unsure of the system specific details required to be posted with my query, so if there are any specific information required to help with my query please don't hesitate to ask.

I have been a happy windows 10 user since it's been released I am very happy with its performance and features. Recently I upgraded my 2 laptops(dell & acer) running win 10 to SSD(850 evo & 840 evo respectively both being 250 G.B.). I did a clean, fresh install making sure my bios was set to AHCI instead of IDE in both conditions. Since both SSD's offer Samsung Magician software to monitor data usage I have installed it on both laptops. The problem I am facing here is in fact to do with the Windows login. After the system boots and we see the password, pin or pattern lock screen, every time I use my pin or password to log into my system it takes good 60-80 seconds before I am greeted with my desktop. For a while I was trying to find a solution to this matter online but have been unsuccessful. Please help me with this query. Any help would be highly appreciated.

Kind Regards

Since its on both laptops that should have a much faster load time, I would assume its an install error or a boot/startup problem.

Have you looked at and tried disabling some startup services and programs?

You may also want to so a virus scan, just to check

How did you install win10?

Since it only occurs with the password/pin, it seems like a system issue, which a reinstall may fix.

Thanks a lot for the information.

I don't have much apps installed on both of my laptops, also I have disabled all startup programs leaving only system related programs on(like touchpad, hd audio and anti virus). A virus check is performed all the time automatically and I do it periodically myself.

I installed using the windows creation tool via a usb stick.

I have performed a clean install a few times on my dell laptop first time because I had IDE selected in bios and later because I thought I made a mistake doing the install!

As far as speed and performance is concerned all my programs and apps runs at SSD speeds! Its just that initial login that's really bugging me.

Any other tips of fix's that I might try?

[Also I found a suggestion online some weeks ago suggesting me to enable ultra low powerups, it did help me for a few logins but everything went back to normal after that!]

That is indeed odd. I know theres been many issues with the recent update. It may be tied to that, though I haven't heard this issue.

Did you use the same install usb each time? Its an off chance with this slight of a problem but it may be contained in the install media.

Did you update the drivers accordingly after the install?

Some of the odd tricks:

Run the system maintenance troubleshooter?

Disable auto-hide of the task bar?

Have you disabled defender?

If your account is an microsoft account, try setting up a local user account.

If your account is an microsoft account, try setting up a local user account.

Ran the system maintenance troubleshooter: No problems found!

Auto Hide is disabled will update in some time how that is working out need to restart the system a few times!

Win Defender is automatically disabled since the other anti virus program was installed!

Will create a new local account and will update the status.

Thanks heaps for all the help. Will get back to you if problem persists!

Warm Regards
