Overclocking help

Help me overclock my Xeon X5670 @ 2.93GHz. I want at least 3.5. I'm new to overclocking and could use some help, thanks.

i dont think you can overclock xeons

i think you need a k like 6700k or x like 6950x with a Z mother broad or a x like x99

I was told Xeons are Overclock-able just not through multiplier

Like I said, I'm new. Never overclocked and I haven't tried. Don't wanna blow my shit up lol

so i would try raising the BCLK clock from 100 to 107 then raise voltage. a 107mhz base clock will give you 3.1GHz  with a 29 multiplier 

and try keeping under or at 1.35V. then stress test with a program like aida64 extreme i use that program if its stable for a few hours then it might be good but if it crashes (blue screen) try lowering the clock or raise voltage

But if I can't do anything with the multiplier like I said, should I just leave it as it is?

These are older lga 1366 xeons, that predate any "k" cpu or "z" motherboard, it is possible if you have a x58 motherboard.

yeah your muiltplier will be 29 so 107 base clock times 29 is 3.1ghz

Can you change the multiplier inthe bios?

I do have an X58 Motherboard, and I have not checked

I don't recommend BCLK overclocking when there is a regular multiplier that can be changed on this cpu, people have gotten these up to 4+GHz without touching the bclk.

it can be changed on this cpu? i thought all xeons could not overclock with multiplier
