Hey, I'm wondering what my options are for buying a graphics card? I've been putting it off for almost 2 months now. First I was advised to wait for the rx480 to finally come out and now I've been advised to wait for the aftermarket 480 cards to come out. The reason I'm thinking I'm sort of "stuck" with AMD is that I have a freesync monitor and have been advised that I should utilize this feature for a better gaming experience. Is the 480 my only AMD option right now? I want a GPU that is decently fast. NVIDIA seems to have way more options right now with the 1060, 1070, and 1080 all available. Although I don't want to spend a ton of money for a high end card like a 1080 it doesn't even seem like AMD offers any new cards besides the 480. I'm anxious to finally be able to use my new PC. Can I get by with v-sync, allowing me to go the NVIDIA route, playing games like fallout 4 and overwatch or would the tearing be terrible? Sorry for the long post and thanks for any help you can provide.

Well then it seems the 480 is my only option. Despite numerous google searches I couldn't find any information on potential release dates for the aftermarket 480's. Any input on when you think they might be released?

aftermarket 480s are already out lol. at least for the US, though it goes out of stock pretty often.

480 is only a mid range card.  It's target is for 1440 gaming so in a year or so you'll be in the 1080 area most likely with current to then titles or 1440 with a few of the glam settings turned down.  If you're looking for a powerhouse card that can do 4k and such, AMD doesn't have a current generation option at this time.  I have no reason to guess this other than I'm sure they want it to be the case, but I think 490 and possibly 495 dual gpu cards will likely be out around November for the holiday season.

There's something cool here - you just can't see it.

look for a cheap Fury card, not the X or Nano, there is real value in them right now.

They are significantly faster than a 480, and only a few fps slower than a furyX, which can be made up with an overclock to 1100mhz.

Any brand in particular you'd recommend? @super_skank

Also how do you think the Fury's will do in the near future? I'm not looking to have to upgrade GPU's all that often so in your opinion will this be able to at least provide an above average gaming experience for the next year or two?

You can't go wrong with Sapphire, how long the card will be good for, maybe 2 or 3 more years....there seems to be a lack of games that push the hardware coming out lately, except the odd broken mess gameworks game....

Everyone seems to be wanting 4k, this card can't do 4k ultra, but to me 4k is pointless, 4k shows off games graphic flaws, more than it enhances.

so if you want 1440p and 1080p you're good for a good while with a fury....

Any brand aside from Asus and Gigabyte are fine for AMD, with Sapphire and MSI being top of the heap.
