how to convert video-signals

Doh007

so i made a post earlier about making a 4k screen for less than 100 USD1,

but i'm not sure whether i can even do that (especially by myself).

what i would like to do is connect this screen to my computer, without it being too difficult or expensive.

i just haven't found out much else than this being a MIPI connector with 4 data lanes2,3*;

that you can connect similar 1080p screens with certain types of boards4:

and that it aparently needs exactly a 60Hz connection, no more and no less2.

i've done several searches for boards that can convert it to either HDMI, VGA, Displayport

or something else that a computer can output, but i really can't find one for 3840x2160 @60Hz,

which also would work with the connection that this screen needs.

here's an example:

http://stores.ebay.com/ElecRealm/How-to-drive-the-3K-4K-5K-LCD-panel.html

i don't know whether it would work with a phone screen,

and i highly doubt it would work with this one in particular.

also i don't quite understand what the solution they found was in the second-last link.

i'm willing to go up to around 200 USD, if that would make the making of it easier for me :^)

any help would be appreciated :)

*it seems that a different screen5 fits the specs better(citation needed), but it seems to be the same connector type ( MIPI 4 data lanes), except 2 channel.

my best bet so far would be either the solutions they found on here:

http://www.osvr.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3463&start=10

which is this: (all-in-one eDP -> MIPI DSI bridge)

or something from here, which a classmate suggested might be an option:

  • 2 weeks later...

since i now know that at least one of these should work, and that i can now input

DP (DisplayPort) into it via a simple DP -> eDP adapter (embedded DP),

all i need now is to find the pinout of the screen connector.
