Need help! about cable adapters

So hey guys just purchased the 1070 amp extreme from zotac. So basically i have a two monitor setup a 24" with dvi and hdmi and a old 17" which only has a vga input i bought an adapter for the 17" monitor already cause my old 970 doesn't have vga and it only has 2 kinds of dvi  but now with my new 1070 it only has a dvi but my adapter isn't compatible it is a dvi that has a 24+5 pins and i need 24+1 pins is there any adapter like vga to 24+1 dvi? sorry for the bad english.

That card doesn't support analog VGA signals as it's missing pins are the analog output, you will need to get an active adapter that converts either DP, HDMI or DVI to VGA.

But is there such a thing like a DVI-D to VGA that works. i read that it something like doesn't work or you need a gpu that can somewhat produce a digital signal to an analog thingy.

Unless they specifically modified their DVI-D connector to be able to pass thorugh an analog signal through a DVI-D connector, it will need an active adapter to work, one such as this:

Ooh  i see thanks. i really need my other monitor working. I still have yet to save up for another monitor planning on getting a 1080p 144hz.
