Custom Custom Loop

Hello, custom loop people. I think I am going to build myself a custom custom loop as there is no block for my 980ti. It already overclocks like mad on air at 1586mhz so I suppose adding a custom loop to keep temps low may help me achieve 1600mhz and beyond. I am going to be making my GPU block with some help from a local friend with a makerspace. I know copper has the best dissipation but I don't know how it mixes with other metals. My worry is the rad and the cpu block as I don't have to make a block. This is my first time making a loop so the more info the better. Also side questions, how often do you clean your loop? Do you use a piece of silver to kill bacteria? Should I do hard line or soft? Also at what point do radiators not matter? I have phanteks enthoo primo so I could fit a 240, 480,480, 120, and a 240 all in the case. Probably overkill but maybe 2 480s that are thick should do it. Thanks!

Soft tubing always, unless you plan on making it look super super professional and like showcase worthy at an event or something, quite easier to work with soft tubing and tbh I like the look better.

I mean this in the best way, but wouldn't it just be a better idea for you to get a second 980TI? Your performance would be a lot better and while your temps wouldn't be lower, and would be higher overall, it would likely be better. Also, you haven't made a custom loop before so maybe you should start with a normal loop first and see if you still want to do this. (Maybe make a CPU loop and see if you think its still worth it to do the whole custom custom loop)

If I was there is a great chance it will overclock like garbage and my other 980ti will not benefit. Also SLI. If custom loops are too much then I guess I could wait until a better GPU comes out that yields 50% greater FPS then the 980ti. Which the Titan XP is sadly not even breaking 20% on my 980ti

No matter what, it will benefit, even if it doesn't overclock too well.. Yeah SLI has its issues, but even if it were minimal performance improvements it would be more than overclocking your GTX 980ti by like 100mhz more.
