Hi guys,

Got a Gigabyte G1 GTX1070 and i've overclocked it to +110 power limit, +100 core clock and +200 memory clock.

Valley bench runs great, but when i play Far cry primal for example, after an hour or so the screen freezes and i need to restart the computer.

What am i doing wrong?

what about temperatures? monitor them during gameplay that sounds like something is overheating.

Not likely.

It's 60-70 max, never goes above 70.

I would try with no vram overclock, those things get even hotter when playing games rather than stress testing with (furmark etc.. )

Nope, this problem disappears

Then it sounds like your OC isn't stable. Increase your core voltage to max and try again, if you don't crash anymore reduce the core voltage bit by bit till you do. If you do this keep an eye on your temps, increasing core voltage will cause things to get toasty.

Did you overclock the memory the same time as the gpu core clock?

Oh you guys are probably right.

I've noticed that with the default curve the gpu runs at 30% when on 50C, thats probably why it crashes.

It it fine to set it so when it reaches 50c the fan will work at 50%, 60c - 60% and so on?

absolutely, you can have even more aggressive fan curve so you can overclock further

Hi guys,

Still freezing, even though i did a custom curve and the GPU wont go above 55c.

any ideas? :(

Don't use Valley for GPU stability - Use Heaven instead, its much more likely to show instability.

Did you loop it or only one run? Have you got any games that use the Cryengine to test it with?

only tested it in rainbow six siege and far cry primal so far.

R6 runs great, far cry freezes.

and i did only one loop.

by the way, what is the default temp in which the fans start spinning (gigabyte default curve)?

Mine start to spin at 60c on default. I've changed it to 55.
