No, the 7950 is still a great value IMO, even more with the price drops.

The R9-280X is 300$ and equivalent of a 7970Ghzs (it's a rebadged one) and the R9-270X is 200$ and is the equivalent of a 7870XT AFAIK, could be wrong on this.

The 7950 is in the middle, and it's a heck of a card for the price. It's a good decision don't worry ;)

PS : I haven't been following this closely so there might be a R9-280, but I haven't seen any real infos so far.

Everything here is correct but the card you are mentioning is the possible R9-290 non X ;)

A R9-290 non x would be the equivalent of the 7950? How come it's like that, since the 280X is a rebadged 7970Ghz, and thus better than the 7950?

Or do you mean that there's a R9-290 non x coming out but not a 280 non x?

A 290 non X coming out is what I meant. I have not heard of any 280 non X equivalents at all.

Almost. The 270X is a vanilla 7870 GHz

Yes, there might be 280 because X marks eXtra so, for logic sense there will be non X version. :P
