I was thinking about upgrading my pc, trying to get good performance for the buck as im on a very, very tight budget. Could anyone tell me if this build would work?

(Please only constructive criticism, I understand its very mish-mashed)

SuperMicro X8DTT-F-SG007 Dual LGA1366 Motherboard

2 Intel Xeon Quad Core Processor E5640s

PNY GTX 970

Ultra 600 Watt PSU

16 (2X8) Gigs of crucial DDR3L-1600 PC3-12800 UDIMM Ram

Thanks alot!

P.S- If you have a rough estimation of how this rig would perform in games, and editing, it would be appreciated. Thanks.

P.P.S- If you know if this motherboard can overclock, I would appreciate that to.

I think you need ECC ram on that board. Interesting build however. I would go with an i5 + 960/1060/RX480 anyways.

Budget Rig "Curable":     | FX 6300 @4.5Ghz | Asus R9 270x | Asus Crosshair IV Extreme | 16GB HyperX Beast | 120GB PNY SSD

Tablet "Buddy":                 Trekstor Wintron 10.1|

I am going to use a 1080p 60 Hertz Monitor. Nothing special. What frames do you get on games like CS, and GTA 5?

CSGO can go ballfuck maximum, 60fps straight with every setting up. GTA5 however is steady on high with textures turned down.

Don't. That thing is awful.
Buy something that is tier 3 or above on this list.

If you have a really tight budget, go used and get a PSU from this list instead.

You should do fine if you can OC. If you can't, well...not so fine. The Xeon isn't exactly a fast chip unless you OC it.

This uses your processor with an older GPU.

For anyone wondering, what I would have to buy for this build (2x4) gigs of ecc ddr3 ram, 2 intel xeon E5640s and that motherboard, just hits 81$. I would assume it would be a monster of an editing workstation

so I could use 2 I-7's? that sounds cool, but thats wayy more expensive then the Xeon. Do you know if that particular listed board can OC?

Thanks for the video btw

Do you also know what board he was using that supported the normal ram?

I also figure that two xeons would be better then one, right?

I believe it says the build in the video. Not sure, I just went to the benchmarks, you'll have to explore that for yourself.

No, I think only the Xeon works like that. However this was using the same CPU as you, and the other system was the i7.

I don't think games support two CPU's, so no. As for editing, I don't do that so I have no idea.

after going and checking, I think it will work, but the extra power wont be used, but at this point, if it works witch I think it will, it will be badass. I think it would also be a monster at rendering, and multi tasking so im tempted to say Fu*k it and do it.

When you get the system, open up 100 YouTube tabs and see how it runs :D

just curious, what wrong with it?

Noname PSUs can often cannot even output less than half what they claim to be able output, they are fire hazards, if they blow up your motherboard, CPU and graphics cards are likely to be dead to, they also often don't meet the ATX specification.
