I have not built my PC yet, but right now I am looking for a good monitor. G-sync monitors are way way way too expensive. Do you guys think it is worth it, or should I just decide to go with AMD?

I'm choosing between a GTX 1060 or an RX 480. Monitors can be decided later, help me choose.

Well since Freesync is available is not really worth it imho. Unless you've already decided on Nvidia for a couple of generations (3 at least I'd say) then it's a heavy Price vs Freesync panels that are reasonably priced enough that if AMD releases a dud or goes under the monitor was not that much of a Price Premium and still Works on Nvidia cards only without the refresh thingie.

Personally I'm looking into buying a 24" 1440p monitor (since 27" isn't really much of an upgrade in DPI from my current 24" 1080p) to hold me over for a year or two so I can get an HTC vive generation 2 or 3 (and also to see if VR really catches up and becomes more widespread in new AAA games and such)

That said...freesync is also amazing...VARIABLE REFRESH RATE is worth it...maybe not Gsync :P lol

Freesync is not as good as Gsync, since Freesync is just on the driver side (hence "free" upgrade), while Gsync has a chip that regulates it (hence the premium). Basicly, the chips makes sure the monitor and GPU is in sync, while Freesync is plagued by ghosting atm.

Its also a matter of which brand do you want to use for as long as you have the monitor.

I speak my mind, sorry if thats a problem.

My life will never be the same. I refuse to buy another monitor without Gsync. Unless Freesync catches up and AMD finally release a decent high powered GPU.
