Hi guys!

Got my new ultra wide monitor yesterday! I'm enjoying the experience a lot and can't understand why didn't get one earlier.
I bought the Dell U3415W for 7490 SEK (~875 USD) and what i'm questioning is. How much backlight bleed is tolerable for such a premium price?

In the picture you can see that the left corners have pretty severe BLB, would you guys return the monitor for this? I can tolerate the right corners but the left is pretty bad.

Greetings!

i would say thats acceptable, maby a bit much but you are not getting anything back from Dell because of that amount of backlight bleed

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

wow for that price, it looks unacceptable
check with some other user reviews if thats normal or not

RMA RMA RMA

Well that was the cheapest alternative i could get in Sweden, 25% sales tax and an expensive dollar doesn't make it any better :(

Fortunately i can return the monitor to the retailer within 14 days from the purchase (law based when you buy online) so i would probably not have to fight with Dell about it.

Is the Samsung S34E790C a good choice instead, cost is 20$ more? Monitors like the Asus Rog and Acer Predator is currently priced at 1500 USD..... Which makes them a bit out of my budget (high school student).

It's not acceptable imo. I had a PG348Q with BLB like that, rma'd it and waited for months to get another one and it had almost the exact same BLB. Couldn't be effed to deal with rma again so I kept it and it only bothers me on windows startup where the screen is black with just the windows logo.

Glad that more people seem to think this is out of the ordinary :)

I watch a lot of movies and movies in 16:9 aspect ratio is really disturbing. The blb does in most cases directly effect the quality of the movie since it is rather disturbing.

It doesn't really bother me that much with movies/shows anymore as I have adjusted my positioning to be able to barely notice it.

You're probably gonna encounter this on every unit of this model. Get a LG 34UC88 if you don't want BLB
