What about both.

 

Graphics do not matter at all to a game in my opinion. I still love the feel of playing On A Rail in Half Life. Hell, I still love a game of Mario 3 on my phone's emulator.

 

This is another kind of post that will just start a pointless argument between people that love 2d games, and the people that are obsessed with AAA graphics on newer games.

Every video game is 2D. 3D games just use an illusion on a 2D screen to mimick 3D

Depends on your point of view, most objects inside a "3D" game have length, depth and height. So, doesn't it make it 3 dimensional? The illusion is on your screen (perspective), not the game itself. Not sure though, haha, depends on your point of view.
