Bandwidth Oscillation

CtrlAltELITE

Hey guys

Just got back from vacation to find im having the wierdest issue which I havnt stumbled accross before.

The bandwidth of my wifi is randomly oscillating where it will gradually slow down to <50KB/s then back up to ~2MB/s. It seems to happen at random times every 10-15minutes or so. It takes 30-60seconds for the net to go from full speed to 0 then another 30 for it to go back to full speed.

My network is a BT Homehub 4 on one side of the house with a Ubiquiti UniFi AP LR Access point covering the other side. It is the Ubiquiti side which I sit in most as the BT SSID only really works in 1 room. The only change I have made to the network since the issue started occuring is add a Roku TV box wirelessly to the Ubiquiti side of the house. Due to the random nature of the problem it is difficult to reproduce however I managed to snap a screenshot of a steam download when it happened:

Ive tried the usual suspects of turning routers and APs off and on again and checking wiring but that has done nothing to resolve it. It makes streaming movies and TV rather frustrating.

Haha solved it. Well I was away I had switched my home server off. Turns out when I turned it back on it decided to download 3 weeks worth of random updates and backlogged downloads from my seedbox
