MSI Z170A GAMING PRO CARBON vs EVGA Z170 FTW

So for my next build I wanted a mainly black mobo, to go with my GPU and lighting kit so I can change them to any color without accents of a black/red clashing with any color. I have narrowed it down to these two motherboards. I didn't chose the MSI mobo because of the RBG, its cool but I don't need it. The EVGA one has a dust shield which I am a sucker for, but I am going to ask you guys, since they are the same price which one in you opinion is better and why?

Thanks,

ConiferousJelly

i have a msi z170a gaming pro carbon its a really great mobo ive never had a evga board but ive heard that their layout is bad like pitting a huge heatsink rightt under the pcie slot making it so that you cant plug you gpu all the way in.

if you are overclocking, id say the evga board. it has cleaner power delivery, 5+4+1 [vrm+igpu+vccsa], while the msi board is 4+3+1.

I probably won't be over clocking for a while, if at all. Do you still recommend the EVGA board over the msi one?

i would still recommend evga over msi, unless you run multiple gpus (the heatsink on the evga card only seems to block the 2nd or 3rd pcie slot). evga has a much better warranty and customer service than msi, in part because they are located in north america

Yeah ill go with the EVGA mobo if the deal is still there when I buy it. Funny, I was looking at the layout right as you replied. If I did wan't to go SLI in the future would i still be able to use the PCIE slot or does it block the GPU from going in completely?

it doesnt look like it will block most cards, except maybe really big ones like a zotac amp! extreme or arctic extreme iv. i actually cant find any reviews that mention that, so you should be fine. if anything, you could always just remove the heatsink or contact their amazing support xD
