I don't know what's going on with my PC???

Crazie_Flash

Hello. I just overclocked my CPU to 4ghz 1.11v using the MSI x99 SLI Plus MOBO, and after I saved and rebooted, it wouldn't boot up, and it still won't boot up. It turns on for about 3 seconds and then it just shuts down. Do you know what the problem is?

clear cmos. Your voltage is too low

Then what should I do to stop it from not booting?

Clearing the CMOS and resetting the Voltage is the thing that should stop it from not booting. Your computer isn't booting because you put your voltage too low.

Yes i did, I watched both of the Linus Overclocking guides and used a different guide to overclock to 4 ghz

Clear your CMOS

How do I press the reset button on the MOBO? That didn't work 5 times.

All you do is hit the button on your motherboard that said Clear_CMOS. You really should research how to overclock instead of going right into the bios and maxing out the CPU without touching the voltage.

well then you should try to increase voltage or check if your cpu is even able to handle that speeds. Every CPU is different (as you know) and therefore needs different Voltages to run at certain speeds or can't even run them stable.

I did touch the voltage. I turned it up to 1.11 ghz

that is nowhere near enough for a x99 cpu with a 4ghz overclock.

You mean Volts. And yeah, it's too low for a 4GHZ oc.

That requires trial and error. Bump it up to 1.3v and see if that works. Run a stress test and such. If not, bump it up slightly until it's stable.

a 5820K. you know what, I have a 750w PSU, so do you think that 4.5 ghz on 1.3 volts will work? Another question, if i do said method, will it still last for a little while if I use it 24/7

1.11V sounds more like northbridge voltage than cpu voltage, but then again I haven't touched any of the newer mobo and cpus

reading up on stuff helps before posting

you didn't even get up to 4 and you want 4,5 now. Boy you need to set your goals lower xD. Just try to reach 4 Gghz first and then we can talk about the other stuff. Also do stress testing if you got your system to run. I usually do a 24 Hour stress test to see if it runs stable or not.
