so i wanted to invest in a RAM cooler, i looked at the EK-SFD https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-sf3d-triple-point-evo-incl-modules and i have the ASUS X99 Deluxe II (8 ram slots in two different sections (2 sections of 4)) and i was wondering if i could put 4 sticks or DDR4 8GB a stick in 1 section of 4 slots and buy the Ram cooler and put it over the 4 sticks but i dont quite understand the 1-3 and 2-4 ram slot rule, would i be able to do this?

I'm actually not sure. From what I know you're supposed to fill up grey first and then fill up black, but I really don't know for sure. You could try it and see, since the worst that will happen is that the computer beeps at you.

GPU: Intel HD Graphics 530

Storage: 525 GB Crucial MX300 SSD

PSU: Whatever power jack comes with it

Display: Some 1366 x 768 garbage + an OK 1080p monitor

Cooling: Not enough + an external laptop tray

Keyboard: The included one

Mouse: $4 Lenovo 3D Optical Mouse (not as bad as you (rightly) assumed)

Sound: The Skullcandy branding right under the power button should clue you in

Operating System: Windows 10 Home

Quad channel means that the slots are grouped to be 2 on each channel. If you fill slots that use the same channel you are potentially losing performance over spreading them over all 4 channels. That means that ideally you want to populate the slots with an empty one inbetween every 2 full ones.

 

Don't invest in a ram cooler, it's truly pointless.
