VR Rig planning

Hey guys I'm new to the forum and I wanted to know if I could get some help with my rig planning. 

 

One thing to note is that a friend of mine set up my rig and the parts for it so if you could describe things in lamen terms that'd be great. But not to belittle myself so much, I do know some stuff.

 

So on to the planning, I want to build a VR ready rig. My specs so far are:

 

motherboard: Maximus Hero VIII

DDR4/Ram: 16gb

gpu: GeForce GTX 970 4gb x1 

cpu: Core i5 6600k 

power supply: nex750G 80 plus gold 

also planning to get water cooling in the future

air cooling: hyper 212 Evo

 

im running all this on a full tower 

tower type: CM storm Stryker 

 

Now for the questions;

1.) Would my rig be able to support a GTX 1080 as is, or would I have to upgrade the power supply?

 

2.) Would I need more ram for VR?

 

3.) Should I upgrade anything else for a smoother VR experience?

 

4.) What kind of water cooling would best suit my rig. 

 

P.S I'm willing to spend the money in any case. Also any other tips and advice would be highly appreciated.

Looks like a good start. You'd likely want to step up to a GTX 1080 for optimum performance.

 

1. You have more than enough power. 

2. No, 16GB is more than enough

3. Video card. But I think you're already thinking about that.

A better GPU would be optimal, a 1070 at least if you plan on using it for mostly VR as it would give you a much smoother experience than the 970
