My motherboard has failed. :(

Looking to get a new board. I am a gamer, but i mostly Play Diablo 3, and some other indie games. Dont plan to crossfire or overclock.

I am running:

FX8320

HD7870

16gb of Sniper Gskill Ram

I am a little weary of buying an MSI board since my 970a-g45 died after only a year and a half, so I have been looking at a few boards.

My question is I am reading some conflicting things. First I will show you the boards I am looking at.

I saw a video review for the 970 board, and it says that they do not suggest picking a 970 board with 8 core CPU's. But i have read other places the main difference between 970 and 990FX is for crossfiring and overclocking. I do not mind spending the extra 30-40 bucks on the 990fx board if it will be overall faster experience since im using an 8 core cpu.

Thanks in advanced.

I would go with Asus M5A97 R2.0 if you are not overclocking. Imo its not bad to have a FX8320 on it since you are not overclocking.

Definitely get the ASRock 990FX Extreme3. It's a great board with plenty of features.
