Graphics card kernel stopped working?

Definitely start with a full uninstall and re-install of the drivers. Move onto to further troubleshooting if that fails.

I was on my desktop and suddenly my screens went black and said that they couldn't find any input. My computer was still running and it appeared to be running as it normally does, except with out monitors. I hit the reset button and my computer shut down but never turned back on. The USB jacks still had power (my wifi adapter was still running) but all the lights inside the pc were off (I don't have any LED strips, just the normal mobo lights and a fan). I pressed the power button and it booted up but once I got into the desktop a notification popped up in the bottom right hand side saying something about my graphics card kernel had stopped working but had recovered. This popped up a few times in about a minute. Currently I'm on the desktop that was having problems and it been working so far. Is there something wrong with nvidias drivers (I have a 750ti) or is it something to do with hardware? 

 

Note: I flipped around my PSU yesterday to make cable management easier but since the fan was going straight into the carpet I propped up the feet with some card board so the bottom of my case is now about an inch or maybe a bit less above the carpet and the exhaust from the PSU doesn't feel warm at all.
