Eh, power supply calculators are just random number generators most of the time. What are your specs?

i5-6600k and r9 390, 8 gbs ram. I was thinking 500W?

I'd be thinking 550-650W just for the headroom. What power supply are you planning on getting?

Not super fancy, I know, but reviews say it has bulletproof reliability and holds up for long periods of time. (And I'm on a relatively tight budget)

Horrible power supply, it's essentially bottom tier. Since you're planning to get a i5 6600K and a R9 390, you can afford to get a better quality one.

This one at the very minimum: http://www.ncixus.com/products/?sku=59615&vpn=P1550SXXB9&manufacture=XFX

Well, if my Kill-a-watt is accurate, my i7 4930K overclocked to 4.5ghz, and my R9 390X, with both stressed full tilt, it still doesn't pull more than 490w out of the wall. :P  but for that reason, you'd want at least 600w so you have sufficient overhead for any major dips and such

How about this one: https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Bronze-Power-Supply-100-B1-0700-K1/dp/B018JYHBE6

I know it's a little overkill in terms of wattage but it gives me room for CrossFire in the future, and it seems to be a very good deal.

No, it's a bad power supply for Crossfire. Besides, Crossfire (and SLI) sucks and you're better off with a single stronger card than two weaker ones if you're planning to upgrade.

Out of all of the EVGA PSUs, get one from the B2, GS, G2, GQ, P2 or PS lineups.
