Will I notice any difference at all if i upgrade my current motherboard which has SATA 2 3gbps ports to another motherboard which has SATA3 6gbps ports?

Also

1. My HDD's are OS is on a WD 500GB Blue 3.5inch HDD and my data is on a 2TB WD Green 3.5inch HDD?
2. Is the 2TB WD Green drive a good choice for storing data that i want it to last as long as possible?
3. What are maximum real life transfer speeds on the two SATA types and then what are the speeds I will see read and write on my two HDD's?

There isn't a difference.

Hard drives can't use the extra speed sata 3 gives over sata 2.

300MB/s is the SATAII interface speed, no hard drive (apart from SSD's) can get anywhere near this speed yet.

1.  That is fine.

2.  Yes they are a decent option, but would lean more towards the WD red's.

3.  Depends on the speed of the HDD (7200rpm etc) and the hard drive it self, it will vary allot.

just stay with your Mobo, im using sata II aswell, even though i got an SSD, ebcause the speed of 300mb/s is jsut fast enought for me, and any device i could possibly throw at my mobo.. espacially for HDD's as my pre posters mentiioned, you wont get any benefits..(except when acessing multiple drives simultaneously)

you would see the difference when using 5 or more drives simultaneously.. you could calculate like this: add the average drive speed (write/read in mb/s) and see if you get over 300.. if so you would benefit from SATA III which features max speed of 600mb/s

Wasn't that 300 (or 600) MB/s per channel with SATA? In that case you would probably never reach the limit, using HDDs (even with more than 5).

not quite shure, but if i do use my ssd & hdd at the same time, i wont reach full ~300mb/s with my ssd, so i guess its the total limit, but dont quote me on that...
