Windows 10 upgrade issues

I tried upgrading  my HP pavilion Inspiron 580 to windows 10. It has been stuck here for about an hour. Should I hold in the power button to force shutoff? Should I leave it sit? It just seems to me like it's taking way longer than it should.

How bad do you need it? How fast is the laptop? I would wait atleast 2.5hr before doing that.

leave it for another hour just in case, but you should be safe to shut to down if its on a screen like this. it might need to enter windows recovery mode but you should be fine int the end.

It is a desktop. It's not the fastest computer in the world, but I've definitely had slower

I'd just force shutdown and restart (assuming it's not some ridiculously old/slow cpu). Generally when these things get stuck they get stuck forever.

Let it sit for an hour or so. If nothing happens force and try again
Or you could stay on 7 and evade all the pain

Looks like your PC isn't even at the upgrade stage yet. If it was installing Windows 10, you'll be looking at a screen like this:

 

 

Restart the system if it's stuck like that for a long time with no Hard Drive activity.
