The build looks good for a budget pc to me. However, if your budget is really tight, you may wanna hold off on getting 3 extra fans since your case already has 2. Adding 3 more fans on top of that won't make a big difference in temps and you could use that money for other upgrades (like your future ssd)

At most, I would only add 1 extra fan to that case for now (on a tight budget, otherwise make it rain fans if that's your cup of tea)

When in doubt, re-format.

2 in front 1 on the bottom 1 on the back and 1 on the top are the fans.

I'd go used here as you can get some really good parts for really cheap. Other wise try getting a Z series board, A better PSU with more wattage around the 650w range, two sticks of ram instead of one for dual channel, and a RX480 or a 1060.

Is that good airflow?

You don't need fans everywhere. The one bottom wont provide that good of airflow either. The case also comes with fans.

so maybe buy the coolermaster led fan and put it in the front?

LED fans are generally not as good as just normal fans but I guess.

the case comes with a coolermaster LED fan on the front and a non-led fan for the rear. What we are saying is don't buy any extra fans for now since the 2 that come with it should be enough.

Also, don't get a z series motherboard as someone above said since you will not be getting a K processor.

When in doubt, re-format.

Its a corsair case. Not coolermaster so it has a corsair LED fan.

And he should get a Z series mobo for if he wants to upgrade in the future. I also think skylake Z series can blck overclock so even a non K would get some benefit. I still say he should buy used here. 3770k + a Mobo will go for the same amount.

No the build wont overheat. It's just got a bad GPU as at that price you could get a RX480 or a 1060 or even a 970. You have haswell chips and a mobo with no overclocking potential. The PSU could have a little more wattage and you only have one stick of ram and not two so you loose dual channel support.

Whatever, its an LED fan, my point stands regardless of brand.

As far as buying a z motherboard....it makes absolutely no economical sense to buy a z motherboard with plans on upgrading the cpu in the future since the cost up "upgrading" will be the full price of a k CPU. If he wants to go with a K cpu, he should do that from the get go, unless he opts for like a $40 cpu to start, not an i5 already.

When in doubt, re-format.

Its $95 for an Asus z series motherboard. Not a huge jump in price at all. And the difference between a low end i5 and an unlocked one is over $50. You could also upgrade to a used i7 K series later for cheaper than new now.

moved to new build planning

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.
