EVGA ACX cooler?

So I've been reading a lot of reviews across internet for many many many graphics cards (because I'm bored) and the thing that keeps coming up again and again is how EVGA's ACX cooler is soooo good.

Honestly, it's just a GPU (whatever it is) with 2 standard size 90mm fans in it. I don't see what's all the fuss about it...

-except the ridiculously low temps and noise which I can't explain/understand for the life of me-

someone please help explain..

It has dual ball bearings, thats what i liked about it, sadly its runs hotter then some other gpus in its range and for some weird reason it is loud when it causes less friction in the motor or the air which is weird and i dont know how explain that. Anyways it looks bloody sexy in my opinion and EVGA has amazing customer support from my experience and from the stories from others.

ACX is a piece of sh*t ! all the other non reference coolers are much better than ACX.

Double ball bearing fans is a good thing, compared to cheap sleeve bearings most cards use.  The heatsink is pretty efficient, it has a pretty large heatpipe array on the underside.

Well, it's basically an aftermarket cooling solution to the 7xx cards, so it was always going to perform cooler & quieter than the stock cooler.

It's not the best after-market cooler, but it's not bad considering EVGA's past attempts at cooling.

Evga cards are good but i didn't like their cooler !

Again. Doesn't mean they're shit. You just aren't a fan of the cooler (pun not intended), which is fair enough. I respect that :) But please don't rag on a perfectly fine product as someone new to the GPU market could misinterpret "ACX Is shit" as in the cooler as in it doesn't work, inefficent, etc.

For me the best thing about Evga is the customer service. The cards are great but it is the customer service that keeps me coming back. I had to rma a card a while a go and they were really nice and helpful (unlike a bad experience a friend had with Asus), not to mention a few times I have contacted them with questions (which they happily answered)... and their upgrade policy. In my experience (I may have just been lucky) their cards tend to be good overclockers; while their coolers tend to be a little on the loud side, although newer coolers seem to be doing much better. Hope this helps.

I personally own a 780 ACX and I love it.  It is whisper quiet in my case (650t) and in my gaming the card never goes above 65 (that's after hours of gaming).  Plus it looks sexy as hell with the added back plate.  Ever since I bought my first EVGA card I've never gotten anything else.

These coolers are very good, although slightly louder than most, but the noise is low, a whirl, low in decibel. Here's me playing Borderlands2, it stays boosted almost all the time at 1.2Ghz, and stays cool, in a very crap case that I have, an HP Elite case from 2010. This is not my main system, just the kind of 2nd system, and it runs amazing with this EVGA ACX card. And by the way, it's not even labeled as a superclocked card, although it boosts past all specs for all 760's and stays boosted virtualy 100% of the time, the only time it falls to base clock is when it really doesn't need it, like loading screens and looking through menu's, inventory, etc etc. Epic card and I'd gladly buy the next EVGA card from Nv.

 

Edit: I guess I should give some more detail. I don't use this machine much so it had a 560Ti 1GB card, which was actually awesome, but I needed more Vram, the wife likes hires textures in games. Anyway I got a great deal on this 760 ACX, runs cold and quiet for me, but perhaps my case is just quieter than most.

My best OC was 1285Mhz Core and 1800Mhz memory, but I'm sure it could go further, I didn't push the voltage.

 

I sound like I work for EVGA, but really I'm just saying it's a great contender for a 760, I wouldn't trade mine for any other brand, I want badass fans and epic boost clocks. I have 3 of them total, one in this rig and two in my main rig downstairs.

Beware the irrational, however seductive. Shun the ‘transcendent’ and all who invite you to subordinate or annihilate yourself. Distrust compassion; prefer dignity for yourself and others. Don’t be afraid to be thought arrogant or selfish. Picture all experts as if they were mammals. Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity. Seek out argument and disputation for their own sake; the grave will supply plenty of time for silence. Suspect your own motives, and all excuses. Do not live for others any more than you would expect others to live for you.

Gigabyte cards look like crap

I don't like the blue PCB and the cooler shroud looks cheaper, but it performs much better and allows for higher overclocks so I could look beyond the visual shortcomings.

Windforce was too big for my case, but seems like a good card. Don't  have any experience with their support system though but $10 is well worth it if it runs better.

I have with their Motherboards and it was fine, no experience with their videocards.. sorry
