Right now, I'm sporting an I5-4590 and Gigabyte R9 380 4GB(really sweet open box deal at MicroCenter) and of course with the hullabaloo around the new GPUs, I'm looking to upgrade.

The dilemma is be budget savy and go for better 1080p or go 1070 for probable monitor upgrade. Or wait for AMDs later offerings, save more and go 1440p freesync monitor.

The rational part of me thinks the 3rd option may be best in the long run, but the rest of me says sooner is more gooder.

What would Jebus do?

In your shoes I would wait for Vega. You can still play games on your 380 and it's barely a year old. I don't have the luxury of waiting since I'm on an iGPU so I'll be getting the 480.

In what games can't you do this in?

Witcher 3 sits in the 40's-50's, as does Fallout 4. Doom didn't fare as well as I'd have liked. Everything runs other games I play incredibly well, I'd just like better in some others.

The first 2 are NVIDIA games that make use of Gameworks. Did you turn on Vulkan in Doom?

No. I just played the demo before the Vulkan patch. I should just check that out again. But I am just thinking now, after doing some YouTubeFu to go with a 1060 for the next 2-3 years and then just do a full on new build and get fancy with it.

The 1060 is a good choice. It really just depends on what games and applications you use. One card isn't going to do everything you want, unless that card is so powerful (and expensive) that the benefits of the companies don't even matter. :P

Unfortunately, those cards are just slightly out of my price range. But the 1060, or 480, I could pick up real soon. As long as it gets 60fps at close enough to crazy go nuts settings, it's all I could ask for.
