Anyone here using two routers, and one as a repeater? Currently, the router  isnt doing the trick when pushing signal into one half of the house. I just dusted off an old Linkys and I wanted to know if any of you have experienced any benefits? What are the cons with setting up a repeater? Thanks

Not currently but I've done it in the past. The cons are that unless you have a router which supports a client mode, you'll have to connect the second router (acting as access point) with an ethernet cable, which is presumably something you want to avoid if you're wanting to connect everything wirelessly. The other con in my experience can be that it's often be a challenge to setup and get working.

The pros are fairly obvious though; m0ar wireless coverage.

What about loss of download/upload speeds?

Why would those be overly affected? There will be a slight impact but like Levent says, it's the latency that increases. I forgot to mention that in my list of cons before, but it's definitely a factor.

I see, thanks alot guys, I really know nothing about networking. This whole process seems to take about an hour. I was hoping it would be a quick fix. Ill have to find some time when I can tinker with the router

Yeah, it is very much a "sit down and tinker for a bit" situation.
