http://pcpartpicker.com/list/YH24qk i was wondering if this is still good (already have ddr4 16 gb ram, 750w 80+ gold psu, and storage devices) Please don't recommend different case or gpu, my mind is set on those (case is my stupid splurge item(cuz i like it), and gpu is already a stable trustworthy gpu, and I don't want to get one of the newest ones.. I know stubborn :P sorry..) so aside from that, I was wondering if the rest is good to go for gaming, or if there are smarter/ better options..?

You will want a secondary drive that's larger where you can actually put the games themselves on it. 1 or 2 TB will work just fine.

Trust me, 240GB fills up too quickly xD but the chosen pieces are all good. You will want to upgrade to an i7 in a few years though, 15 uses about half power on most new games

This should be posted under new builds.

Otherwise I don't see anything wrong with it.

I know you said not to, but the GTX 970 is outperformed by the new 1060 for the same price... Can't not post that in good conscience.

Didn't the 1060's just come out? Do we know if they are solid yet?

They just came out but the reviewers had them for a good bit of time before they released to test them. Theyre reliable and perform around a GTX 980.

This is what i would change for sure..

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($238.99 @ SuperBiiz)
CPU Cooler: be quiet! PURE ROCK 51.7 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler  ($34.99 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: Asus Z170-E ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($115.48 @ Amazon)
Storage: PNY CS1311 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($63.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Seagate 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Hybrid Internal Hard Drive  ($89.88 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB SC GAMING Video Card  ($250.00)
Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro ATX Full Tower Case  ($97.98 @ Newegg)
Wireless Network Adapter: Gigabyte GC-WB867D-I PCI-Express x1 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi Adapter  ($29.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $921.30
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available
Generated by PCPartPicker 2016-07-21 17:33 EDT-0400

Other thoughts: You want overclock? IF NO: get a non k processor and save 100$

Would you mind Liquid cooler? IF NO: ADD the 110i from corsair.

Want a better MB? ADD the Z170 A or the DELUXE editon from ASUS.

Reason for change:

There's no reason to get the 1060 instead of the 970.

Add the Enthoo pro. best case of the market as far as i know. also cost less.

Add 2TB of hybrid.

rest is the same.

I am stubbornly keeping the case i had in my list, but the gpu, (1060) I will be changing, and I already have a 2tb storage, and thanks for the recommendation of ssd.

I'm planning building something similar towards the end of the year. But I must agree with everyone else, at this point the 970 isn't really a good deal.
The RX 480 (both variants) are on par or outperform it for less and the 1060 crushes it for a little bit more.

Personally, I'd suggest the 480 because it's $/frame (at least for the 8GB model) is just slightly better than the 1060.

The power draw seems to only technically be around a 30w difference. Though I will admit the 1060 does have a better perf/watt ratio than the 480. But this has been true for Nvidia cards for as long as I've paid attention to PC hardware (circa 2014).

We dont have the AIB cards though and those are coming out over time. He'd have to wait like a month for his build

I mean. there's the AIO (All in One) coolers. that is just Plug 'n Use.

Example

The Corsair 115i

Spoiler

This AIO will do better temps than Air solution coolers.

I think you missundestood me i also will build a pc but i dont want make custom liquid loops so i go with the easy way of AIO coolers.

Any CPU i5 should be good to all. as long as it does not bottleneck the GPU, FOR GAMES. i think a i5 6500 would not bottleneck a 1060. but take my word as a grain of salt. GO AND RESARCH EVERYTHING. that should answer all your question. and remember google is your friend.

Also use common sense, and dont buy a i5 350 or older processor that exist before the skylake.
