My Macbook Pro 15" is heating up and the fans are ramping up when there is not much happening / running and a screensaver is playing.

I'm using the 'Ken Burns' picture screensaver with a selection of my own images, but it is heating up when I do so.

I have attached two image of the temperature and fan curve, one before the screensaver started and the other just after I stopped it.

Any ideas on why it does this and how I can stop it?

Thanks

Like all computers, even MacBooks need to be cleaned once in a while.  You need to get a pentalobe screwdriver and a can of compressed air.  Open up the bottom panel (don't worry it will not void the warranty, iFixit has guides on how to do so) and use the compressed air can to dust out the vents and fans.

The second thing is that your screensaver might be using the dGPU (if your Macbook has one) instead of the iGPU.

With the cleaning part, I haven't had it long just over a month. And I don't have the dedicated GPU it has an i7 at 2.2GHz that has Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB and 16GB of RAM.
