Help with Overclocking!

Hello guys!!

 

I have an Intel Core i3 4010U @ 1.70GHz

and an AMD HD8670M @ 975MHz

I get 20-30FPS in Crysis but only 12-20FPS in Crysis 3. (All Medium settings)

Can an overclock help me a little bit?

By the way its a laptop.

I really don't advise overlocking a laptop as the heat output would go beyond the cooling capacity of the laptop. And laptops for the most part are usually struggling to keep components cool so adding more heat sounds like a bad idea. But you can still try I guess ( I don't know if you even can, download MSI afterburner and see if it works).

With MSI Afterburner, I can overclock the GPU.

How do I overclock the CPU?

I don't think you can overclock the CPU as I'm pretty sure laptop cpus are locked. MSI after burner is for the GPU, so yes you can try that out and see if you can get anything out of it.

So there's no way to 'unlock' it?

Not anyway I know of.

download intel extreme tuning utility (XTU) and see if that will install and allow you to change the BCKL and voltage. If so, you can fiddle there. If not, you're locked out for the CPU

your base clock and multipliers are blocked. So there is no wiggle room. If you can get into bios (unlikely) there may be some abilities there. But looks like it is fully locked.

Well, I actually tried it and the temperature went to 98 C (While playing Crysis 3)

I'M NEVER OVERCLOCKING LAPTOPS AGAIN.
