Buzzing sound coming from graphics card

Hi guys, i bought a Sapphire R9 390 Nitro (1040mhz version) two days ago. Today i noticed that it makes a weird buzzing sound when under load, either in games or when running the Unigine Heaven benchmark. It's not coil whine but it's annoying asf. Running the card on a Gigabyte B150M-D3H, i5-6500 and an XFX TS 750W Gold series PSU. I tried swapping the PCI-E Power plugs and reseating the card, unfortunately, with no luck. How can i fix this?

Coil whine. You can't fix it. You can try getting a replacement but it's likely to have the same problem.

The way you describe it does make it sound like coil whine as you only get it under load. You could try to do the crysis 2 method to rid of it or RMA/exchange it.

Can't see how ramping up the fans would have anything to do with the coil whine.

Well, do this at your own discretion, but it shouldn't break anything. But if you have the game crysis 2 you just let it run the menu with the FPS limiter off and let the several thousand fps, and in theory, jiggles the winding back into place. This method is quite old and I don't know if it still works (but it did work with my R9 390). So I guess give it a shot if you don't want to exchange your card.

Depends on your card, each card sounds a little different (my R9 390 had a super high pitch whistle noise). If you could post a clip it might help.

I had a 4870 emit sound similar to the one in the Linus video.

I have a GTX 670 that whines under very high FPS but it's not too loud and not annoying.

That is definitely coil whine, my GTX 1080 makes the exact same noise in heavy load conditions to.

You can try and hope you get one that doesn't have it, but like the silicon lottery, you are relying on the luck of draw.

That is the same noise that my powercolor r9 270 turboduo makes, and yeah its coil whine nothing to be worry about, its something normal on the 200's and 300's series

"Coil whine" can also be a rattling or buzzing noise as you describe - sometimes it's hardly destinguishable from a bad fan. Nothing to be concerned of, though - just a bit annoying at times.
