Ikea Poang chair mod / build your own nerdytec Couchmaster

keith_irl

Hi everyone,

Just thought I would share with you guys a mod I have completed on an Ikea chair (poang) and an Ikea shelf called (Lack).

The idea came to me when using the chair at a desk.

I found the chair one of the most comfortable chairs but not really ideal for PC gaming as its slightly reclined.

I found myself in not such an ideal position when trying to stretch to the desk and gaming using a mouse and keyboard combo.

The chair itself is the perfect gaming chair for console players using a regular controller but I wanted to make it more comfortable for pc gaming without having to buy a new chair.

I actually had a spare Ikea (lack) wall shelf that my better half wanted me to mount on the wall but I had better plans!!!

Rather than ramble on about measurements and steps Ill keep it simple and show you guys step by step how it was built.

Its really quite simple and one of my goals throughout the build was not to have to cut or mod the chair and not damage it.

This process could be altered to suit any kind of chair. Maybe this post wil inspire you guys to build something better.

I didnt go mad with detail I just wanted soimething that would work and be functional without any cost.

Also I wanted to make it removable so as it could be used as a couchmaster!!

Works great.!!!

Anyway here we go.

Cut the timber and screw together as in the photos.

Nearly all pieces can be cut to the same size .

Hope you guys like it and maybe you can better it by adding cup holder?  USB hub? Headphone holder?

I suppose you can mount anything to it.

Heres links to the parts
