Hello I could really do with help overclocking my 2500k, 

 

this system is in my sig and I have no idea where to begin, I know the very basics of overclocking on 1155 however there are so many settings and switches on my motherboard for eco this and turbo that I don't know what to turn off and what to leave on.

 

any help would be most appreciated :) 

Corsair 650D, i5-4690K (Corsair h50 cooler), Asus ROG maximus VII Ranger, Asus GTX 980ti Strix, 16GB Corsair Vengeance pro series Red (2x8gb 2400mhz), Corsair HX850W, Asus Xonar Essence STX, Sennheiser HD595 / Beyerdynamic dt 770 pro 250 ohm, Samsung 850 pro 128GB / WD black/blue/green, OCZ vertex 3 60gb . I just watched this video I posted this, but I have so many setting on my mobo I don't quite understand if I should turn off or not.

In addition to the video from Linus, may I also reccommend TTL's overclocking guide for LGA 1155, it is also more in-depth.

Basically it boils down to this.

  • Go into the bios, and raise the multiplier by 1
  • Boot into Windows and test for stability while monitoring your temprerature. (I think Linus showed that in the video)
  • If it is stable, repeat the process
  • If it's unstable (Freezing or BSoD) go into the bios and raise the core voltage by 0.005.
  • Repeat the above steps untill you hit around 75C on the hottest core.
